A Big Move Deserves a Good Tagline?

Question Marks!?!

So as you know, I am moving this weekend.  Alas, I have not found Mordenkainen’s Magical Moving Men, so I will be doing the job with a little help from my friends.

While I’m busy and semi AFK, I have a mission for you, dear geek friends.

On the comments of my Drive By Shooting at Men with Pens, there was a discussion started about coming up with a new tagline that makes guys who just stumble upon the site know that it is a site for them and not a girlie site.

Thus far, I’ve thought about “Helping Guys Like You Find Girls Like Me“… but I’d like some other thoughts.

While I’m taping my life into cardboard boxes, give me something cool to read when I return.  Okay?

  1. Honestly, I’ve always felt the colors were a bit of a throw off as to a site aimed at males. Pinks usually tend to be associated with girls (even if it fits the love theme).

As for a tagline, ummm….Girl’s Eye for the Geek Guy? XD

  2. “Helping guys like you…” is a great tagline. The only problem is that it only covers the ‘geek love’ aspect of your sight and ignores the ‘geek life’.

As for the color scheme, I don’t mind it. But I’m not necessarily in the demographic you’re trying to reach.

  3. I have given thought to a blue or green based theme… but last time I put up a vote about it, most folks said to keep the purple… hmmm…

  4. ‘Aiding the jaded to become elated?’ No? Too dark and spooky?
‘Helping ninjas to find find true love since … (insert year here).’ Or if you’re a pirate fan… But basically pirates wouldn’t really be on this site as they get wenches… Don’t know what I’m speaking of? I’ve thrown the link out below… At any rate, I hope the move goes well lass. No hernias, banana peels, and of course… The dreaded flying buffalo chip.

  5. “Helping Guys Like You Find Girls Like Me“?=/
No way…this blog is more then just dating advice.

Unfortunately I don’t have anything for you at this moment but I tend to this that the current tag line is fine. The critics are not Gods, they can be wrong.

as for the color…I think the purple and pink is fine. =/
I am bias towards Green because is my favorite color but also because it would be a “neutral color”.

Blue is for boys, pink is for girls so if you must change the color i say go with green…though i do think the current color is fine.

  6. I always felt the site was about getting information about gaming and dating from a geek girl perspective. So the pink/purple fits with a geek girl’s style and therefore I feel like I’m in a real geek girl’s domain when getting the info. I don’t want to feel like I’m at some generic site where a geek girl just happens to blog, it feels more genuine this way.

But maybe some guys out can’t deal with the color which in my mind says they aren’t real gamers / geeks. Gamer geeks explore different styles, cultures - certainly don’t stick to one race and class when we start up new rpg campaigns. So if they have to stretch a little to be in the domain of a geek girl so much the better for them. It will get them that much closer to finding that geek girl.

“Helping geek guys find love and gaming.” - best I could come up with.

  7. How about, “Helping Dudes Find Geeky Girls Since 1999″ Or whatever year you started this blog?

  8. I wasn’t saying I necessarily mind it, but at first glance, I think I agree with Mens and Pens, it really doesn’t look like it’s aimed at males. I also agree with Matt though, Green might make it look too generic, but maybe a deeper color of purple instead of pink (royal purple maybe, like a gamecube).

  9. Yeah, deeper purple would work. I like deep purple and geek girls :).

  10. I agree with the deeper purple color.

“One geeky girl’s advice to all you geeky guys.”

That’s all I got for now.

  11. Wow, big color change. I like it, but I almost thought I clicked the wrong link in my favorites at first.

  12. Glad you like it! I’m test driving it to see how things go. I like it better, but I guess it doesn’t matter what I think, now does it? :)
