Ok, I have to be the dissenting person for the local factor, as opposed to the tourist factor. There are so many other geek things to do--locals don't do Navy Pier or Lakefront too much. Other (better, in my opinion) options...The Chicago History Museum, The Planetarium, The Comic shop tour de force, one of a zillion Chicago Nerd Social Club events (like Pi Day gatherings and a robot building workshop!), or if you wanna impress your comic book lovin' lady, Comic Vault hosts ladies night every Thursday, which is kinda hot to me and an excellent place to meet geek boys and girls!

When I was first dating my own geek girl in Chicago, I found the Hot Tix website to be invaluable for finding great deals in the theatre district.

It worked well enough that she eventually became my geek wife!
