What Will You Look Like at GenCon 2010?

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty mortified at some of the pictures of me that came out of GenCon.  Woooboy.  I let myself go, using the “I’m stressed” excuse to eat whatever I felt like and barely exercise.   After huffing and puffing around Indy, I’m pretty fed up with myself!

I’m relaunching the Getting Hot for GenCon movement as Fit For GenCon.  Dante of StupidRanger.com and I are working on developing a website where geeks can get together and support each other as we work toward our fitness goals – whether that’s losing weight if you’re a squishy geek or gaining muscle if you’re a scrawny geek.

If you’re interested in getting an email when the site launches, please sign up:

(Don’t see a form above? It’s a Javascript form – could be your browser, your adblocker… or maybe it’s just not your day.)

You can also sign up if you’re a fitness or nutrition profession who’d like to help us out with advice (in return for some link love).   We’ll let you know when the site is ready for beta testing, and then when it’s ready for everyone!

For now, please use the Twitter hashtag #fit4gencon whenever you talk about working toward your GenCon 2010 goals!

About e

Since 2008, E. Foley of Geek’s Dream Girl has been helping geeks from around the world find love. She writes amazing online dating profiles for her fellow geeks and guides them through the perilous waters of the dating scene and out the other side. She's totally proud to report that she's even caused a couple geek weddings! By day, she is the Copywriter at ThinkGeek, where her greatest challenges are coming up with enough Star Wars jokes that only reference the good movies and remembering which supers are Somethingman, Something Man, or Something-man. She lives in Maryland with DaveTheGame, her adorable cats, Mr. Peanut & Don Juan, and Titania, Queen of the Cocker Spaniels. (Email e, or follow @geeksdreamgirl on Twitter.)

Utterly great idea. Geek weightloss could really do with it’s own community.

Thanks! Dante is coding away like a good monkey. We’ll hopefully have a real site up and ready in the fall… not sure exactly when, but we’ll keep the folks on the list updated!

I signed up. I think this is a great idea, not only for vanity but for the health of our community.

Now if only we could get MMO’s powered by exercise bikes and treadmills!

    Thanks! For Doing This!!!

  6. Joy says:

What we need are computers powered by exercise bikes and treadmills, then we’d all get some exercise if we wanted to do *anything* on the computer…

Howdy! One of my cohorts over at ShrinkGeek mentioned this today, and, well, here I am, applauding madly. :-)

I’m not sure if I qualify as a professional, or just someone with a big mouth (keyboard?), but, yeah.

@ darya – Good to see you here!

(Everybody go to http://summertomato.com and read Darya’s awesome blog on eating healthy!)

@ Oz & Joy – I saw a desk once that comes with a treadmill. So you walk and work at the same time. Would be cool if any of us had the cash for it!

@ Weldon – Dante and I have been discussing this since March… so we’re pretty psyched about getting the ball rolling. :)

@ Rafe – Your site is pretty cool! We’ll have to put you on our linklove list when our site goes live :-)

  9. Rafe says:

@e Certainly. My personal one (in the name link) is, err… quite a bit crunchier. *laugh*
