I'm strongly in the school of "if it dies too quickly" then bring it back in an interesting way, especially with a monster like a chain golem you can always have it come back, or be picked up by a large monster and used as a badass weapon, or split into several smaller monsters, or the tried and true death-explosion! :) Having a bunch of guards show up is also a good solution though, can't wait to play in one of the next few adventures!

Great story very thrilling. May work some of this into a game I'll be running in the new year.

It sounds like a great session, and Eberron is just the place for a strange magical jail.

Every now and then a "fierce opponent" goes down like a ten-pin. I find the following power pretty helpful, when used with some descrimination to buoy up a failing challenge.
"Rally!" Encounter (or Daily): Reaction. When 'Blooded' the NPC gains a free healing surge, and is +1 to Defenses & Attack for the rest of the encounter.
Things going too tough? The opposite can be used.
"Demoralized!" Encounter (or Daily): Reaction. When 'Blooded' the NPC gains a -1 penalty to all Defenses and Attack. NPCs first thoughts turn to flight, and will try to escape if able.

Anyway, it seems like you're doing a greaqt job, keep up the good work!
