OK, that might have been one of the best posts I've read anywhere in weeks.

I love that you guys went down to the Library and helped out, no matter how it happenned. So many of my players have kids in the 5-15 range, and many of them have their kids playing with them (One of my oldest friends, who I first started gaming with back in the 70s, played with his dad and older brothers, and now is teaching his 9 yr old son. 3 generations of gaming in that clan, which is just astounding when I think about it).

I'm also impressed how well the generations played together at your game. Kudos for such a great article.

YAY! Little Rogue's Mom wrote into the library: <i>"Thank you so much for hosting the Dungeons and Dragons day at the Westminster branch. I am glad that my young son has a safe environment to learn about this game. As a parent, I am a little skeptical of his learning a game such as this, but our whole family was able to enjoy it. Please add it to your monthly list of activities. It was a great program."</i>

@Wyatt, Have you seen Shelly Mazzanoble's October column? It might give you some ideas with regards to your sisters?

Awesome story :) I myself am not a fan of 4E (yes, another 3E grognard), but it's really the DM that makes the game and not the rules.

Sounds like you all had a lot of fun.

Wow, that sounds really interesting. I've tried gaming with my little sisters (they're in their teens, they could get it quick) but they're often too busy with facebook to sit around a table with their big bro and slay dragons and set up dungeon tiles. Sigh.

Sounds like you guys had a blast. I have a feeling I may need to get in another encounter with our young sorceress Maria and the every over excited Paul the Barbarian. There is just something fun about young first time players (so much excitement and a good excuse for occasionally bending the rules, although I am sure my Paladin would disagree with that statement).
