E’s Top Ten GenCon 2013 Memories

It still feels like GenCon was last weekend. (This is my excuse for posting this three weeks later!) Seriously though, they don’t call GenCon “The Best Four Days in Gaming” for nothing. For me, it’s also The Best Four Days in Friendship. Cheesy? Yup. But true. Here are some of my favorite memories of GenCon, courtesy of my Instagram account.

Handmade leather TARDIS hat, complete with working light. She was teaching a class on how to make your own leather hat. I have to remember to sign up next year.

Wil Wheaton invited my boyfriend Dave to demo his game at the Tabletop booth. Wil was a civilian for the weekend and wasn't doing pictures, so we got one with his cardboard doppleganger.

This is my second year taking needle felting class with Anna (@FELTit). I wanted to make my dog, but she didn't have black fiber, so I made an agility tire jump instead. If you like stabbing things or have unresolved anger issues, needle felting is for you!

Speed dating for ages 21-35 went swimmingly and everyone got at least one match! I got a glass of cabernet.

I played Lords of Waterdeep with the new Scoundrels of Skullport expansion. But this is GenCon, so I played against a Drow Priestess, a Drow Rogue, and Chris Tulach (WotC).

I taught my first class in the SPA program: Fair Isle Dice Bag. I learned some valuable lessons that I will apply to future GenCons. ;-)

Matt (Vanir/@direflail) is one crazy mofo. We got to the point that night where we couldn't even make eye contact without busting out laughing. <3

I stumbled on this bit of awesome. On Sunday, the balloon art guy let GenCon's children slay Balloonthulhu. It was glorious.

As always, the exhibit hall was full of amazing items and artwork. These are the blood-soaked dungeon tiles from Dwarven Forge.
