We've all seen them: the images floating around Tumblr and Pinterest.  The threads that pop up on forums and Facebook.  The little snide comments on Twitter.  They usually boil down to something like this:  Person A: Oh hai guys, I'm almost done with the first season of Dr Who! Geeky Goals for Adulthood

In general, I can't stand New Year's Resolutions.  I get why people make them - any starting date for any change is arbitrary, so why not do so while you have the support of the people around you? - but I'm personally bad at them.  My resolutions tend to be things like losing weight and cutting out soda.  Let me tell you, trying to make dramatic eating changes and Lift All the Things while still coming out of a holiday sugar coma is a guaranteed recipe to make me cranky.  Oh, and as for … [Read more...]

Happy Halloween, all!  Growing up, Halloween was a major holiday for me.  I always had a little party in high school, and in college I went all-out, running one of the haunted houses in our campus-wide Halloween festival.  I've gone soft in my dotage - I no longer think it's appropriate to make small children cry - but I can't help but smile when I see others geeking out unabashedly on Halloween. Doctor Who Fan Orchestra: Strings Are Cool Now
